Battery life has always been a critical issue when it comes to smartphones and other modern devices, we use our phones for so much more than just talking or sending texts nowadays that we really feel the absence of them when they are in front of us without being able to turn on. While most of the modern smartphones will last for a day on normal usage, going out for dinner or to a club or just taking a trip may require a few additional hours of power.
Most of the companies are aware of this situation and offer solutions to confront the problem, especially when modern designs don’t seem to allow replaceable batteries anymore plus they are becoming so slim, that it’s hard to fit a battery with a large capacity. Sony claims that most of their new smartphones can last up to two days, it’s not necessarily true, but they definitely last a little bit longer than the rest, Samsung and other companies have integrated fast charging while Motorola has phones with pretty large batteries. There are other solutions, though, like bulky cases that include a battery or there are battery packs to plug into a smartphone when needed.
The Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has built an external battery pack with a 5,000mAh capacity called Slim Power Bank, so most phones would get almost two complete charges and tablets may recharge a part of their huge batteries, it is compatible with a wide variety of devices since it features a full-sized USB port and lights will indicate when you need to charge this unit. The battery on this very compact device is not the largest one, but it still manages to fit a battery with that capacity on a 9.9 mm thick case and it is a very resistant one. It is made of anodized aluminum and the circuitry is encased in 9 layers of protection, its weight is just 156 grams so it is easily portable. This battery pack is available to purchase directly from Xiaomi’s site shipping to the US, UK, France and Germany and starting June 16, it will be available to ship to India for a price of Rs. 699 or about $10.
