When we think of Amazon, we think of easy online shopping and speedy delivery no matter when you ordered it. Of course, Amazon has steadily become much than just an online marketplace, starting with the Kindle, the online giant has steadily built up their own digital content offerings. The Amazon Appstore for Android apps is now full of the latest apps and games, and if you’re a Kindle Fire user then you’ll know their offerings only too well. With Amazon Prime, the company offers – for a £79 yearly fee – all the video you can watch, similar to Netflix, as well as unlimited next-day deliveries. Now, in the UK, Amazon is adding unlimited music streaming to that same £79 a year fee.
This has been available in the States for some time, but only just makes its way across the pond today. Unlike Google Play Music and Spotify however, Prime Music is said to offer “over a million songs” which isn’t much to write home about. However, it will extend the usefulness of that Amazon Prime membership fee for those already using it and those interested can sign up for a 30-day free trial here. This adds to the 500,000 titles you can borrow on any Kindle device as well as the 15,000 or so TVs and Movies you can stream from Prime Video. Prime Music will also offer up a number of curated playlists to help get you going and if you’re a Kindle Fire owner, the interface should be familiar and easy to use.
Prime Music doesn’t have the same amount of songs on offer as other stalwarts in the streaming world, but it doesn’t add any extra cost to the existing Prime subscription fee which, for those already paying for it, is good news, indeed. For those on the fence, the inclusion of streaming music could be the last piece of the puzzle to make that £79 a year fee worth it. Either way, it’s available in the UK right now and free, 30-day trials are available to see whether or not your favourites are included in those “over a million songs”.
