Microsoft have continually been releasing a ton of apps for the android operating system of late and this has all highlighted what seems to be the company’s new approach and embracing of android in general. As such, you can download a ton of apps including Microsoft Office mainstays. That said, back in May, Microsoft announced that they were also going to make available their own smartphone assistant, Cortana, for android smartphone owners.
Following on from this, last month saw the Cortana for android service get another announcement confirming that the beta version of the app will become available sometime in July. Well, the announcement for the availability of Cortana from Microsoft has yet to become official. However, that has not stopped the app from leaking and it is now available to download and install on your android device.
Most will be familiar with Cortana, but for those who are not, this is a rival to the likes of Google Now or the more recently released Hound. As such, once installed, the app is able to help you do things (add appointments to your calendar), call people or provide you with information on just about anything. Like Google Now, hit the button, tell Cortana what you want and the app will take care of it for you. In short, your own digital assistant. In terms of the app, it seems this is the beta version which has leaked and the app comes in about 19.1MB. Of course, with the app now leaking out and available for everyone, it probably means that the official announcement and rollout of the app is not too far away.
