There weren’t too many new apps launched this week worth mentioning, but here are a handful of new additions to the Play Store you should definitely check out.
Halo Channel
We wrote about this earlier in the week and it’s definitely more geared towards gamers, specifically Halo fans, but if you fall into that category then this should be a definite install on your device. It features all sorts of things surrounding the Halo franchise from news on the upcoming Halo 5, guides, tips and helpful walkthroughs on the current Halo game, and even a few videos here and there, including the Forward Unto Dawn series Halo launched alongside Halo 4.
Star Wars
Like the Halo Channel app mentioned above, this Star Wars app launched by Disney is focused on a very niche market. That market just so happens to be a huge one tough since Star Wars has a massive loyal following of fans spanning all ages. If you find yourself drawn to the Dark Side or you’ve always fancied yourself a Jedi, then the Star Wars app is your ticket to news, videos, and all kinds of cool features revolving around Star Wars.
Live Screen Streaming
This is another app aimed at gamers, this time of the mobile category, and it’s only compatible with Sony devices, a handful of them at that. It’s basically Sony’s entry into the mobile game streaming space, competing with the likes of Samsung’s app for streaming mobile games, and other entrants like Kamcord. If you play mobile games and want to stream your sessions to either Twitch or YouTube, this app will do the trick.
Hooks
Hooks is basically an app that lets you create alerts for just about anything you could ever want, and has those alerts show up in your notification tray as well as your status bar when they go off. It might feel similar to setting up an event in your calendar, but this goes completely in depth by having you first pick a channel (category) to create an alert from, then you can proceed with creating your alert whether it’s a reminder that the last episode of your favorite show is coming up or that the new restaurant you wanted to try opens up in a few days.
Tossup
This is a little app from Microsoft aimed at helping you plan events and gather ideas for potential events or rather any little thing. You can create polls and make plans with friends by gathering everyone’s opinions on what to do, then create events based on those answers, making things seemingly easy and hassle-free.
