Galaxy A8 Will Be Available In Korea Starting July 24th

Samsung Galaxy A8 is not a high-end device, but it does belong in the upper mid-range category. The Galaxy A8 was announced about a week ago, after months and months of rumors and leaks. This handset is part of Samsung’s Galaxy ‘A’ line of devices, and follows the lead of Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 which launched last year. This Korean tech giant has actually trademarked Galaxy A6, A8 and A9 names earlier this year, and the Galaxy A8 is the first out of the three to see the light of day.

That being said, the Galaxy A8 will launch in Korea on July 24th. The device will be available from SKT in Gold and White color variants, and will be priced at the equivalent of $563. The Samsung Galaxy A8 sports a 5.7-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) Super AMOLED display, 2GB of RAM and 16 or 32GB of expandable internal storage (expandable up to 128GB). This is a dual-SIM smartphone which offers 4G LTE connectivity. The Galaxy A8 also packs in a fingerprint scanner, which actually doubles as a physical home button. This phablet is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor along with an Adreno 405 GPU for graphics. The 16-megapixel camera is located on the back of this phablet, and flanked by an LED flash. The 5-megapixel snapper is located up front, and a non-removable 3,050mAh battery is also a part of this package. Android 5.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI installed on top of it. The Galaxy A8 measures 158 x 76.8 x 5.9mm, while it weighs 151 grams.

The Galaxy A8 is generally available in Pearl White, Midnight Black and Champagne Gold color variants, but it will be available in only Pearl White and Champagne Gold colors in Korea it seems. Korea is actually the second market Galaxy A8 is launching in, following China’s lead. The Galaxy A8 actually sports a metallic frame, and as you can see in the provided image, the phablet sports really thin side bezels. Other than that, this is a regular Samsung-branded device which is actually easily recognizable due to its design. China and South Korea are the first two markets this device will launch in, it remains to be seen which country will follow, stay tuned.
