Google’s made strides towards supporting a better education for students of all ages by continuing to work towards providing them as well as teachers and education institutions with the tools needed to learn and engage in an interactive education environment. Part of this was through Google Classroom, an app which Google put out as a means for teachers and students to interact with each other while staying on top of coursework and other education tools. Today Google has rolled out an update to the app which brought in a new feature worth noting, and this is in addition to other new features which Google Introduced back in April and May.
Today’s update may or may not be live for everyone so if you aren’t seen the latest version you may just have to sit tight and wait for it to become available. If you have your apps set to auto-update, you won’t have to worry about constantly checking to see when the update pops up. As for the new feature, Google is bringing in notifications to the app, which should be extremely beneficial for students, especially for those who may have trouble remembering things once in a while. The way that it works is that when teachers assign new coursework or projects, students can receive notifications that a new assignment has been added, and then proceed to view it in the app and interact in any ways needed.
It also make things a little bit easier on the teachers too, because they shouldn’t have to worry about students being unaware of any assignments as long as they’re using the Google Classroom app. Google has also made this feature available through the iOS app as well, so students or teachers who may not be using Android devices won’t be left out of the mix. Everyone can receive notifications when new assignments are posted, and everyone can work to complete those assignments a little easier. Notifications aren’t limited to just new assignment postings either, as they’ll come through for basically anything else like when new comments come in from other students in the class, when grades are posted, or when they receive notes from teachers. Google states that users of the app should see the update over the next few days as they continue to roll out the new feature.
