Kyocera Qua Tab 01 Launches Tomorrow In Japan For $300

The tablet market is one which generally seems to be on the decline. It seems it is not that people do not want to buy tablets anymore, but instead, what is a tablet is changing. This is partly because the size of smartphones in recent years has meant they have begun dipping their toes in tablet territory. While at the larger sized end, Chromebooks and Notebooks become lighter, smaller and more tablet like. Therefore, tablets seem to be getting squeezed from both ends of the spectrum. That said, manufacturers are still keen to push forward with new tablets and the latest offering is coming from Kyocera.

A lot of people will be already familiar with Kyocera and this is largely thanks to their more unique approach taken with their smartphone offerings. Their smartphones are normally built to last and as such, are quite rugged compared to the sleeker form factor normally adopted by many of the other manufacturers. Not to mention, the company has been in the news quite a lot recently due to a patent issue with Microsoft. Well, the Kyocera Qua Tab 01 is the new tablet from the company and will be available in Japan from tomorrow.

In terms of what’s on offer, the Qua Tab 01 comes with an 8-inch display with a 1920 x 1200 resolution. Inside, the Qua Tab 01 comes sporting 2GB RAM and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor (clocking at 1.5GHz). In terms of memory, this one comes equipped with 16GB as standard and offers the option to expand thanks to the inclusion of a microSD card slot (up to 128GB). Cameras on offer include a 5-megapixel rear shooter which is coupled with a 2-megapixel front facing option. Additional feature on offer include WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, a 4,000 mAh battery and the device comes running on Android 5.1. Not to mention, the Qua Tab 01 is also waterproof and dustproof. The Qua Tab 01 is also expected to be able to take and make calls once the tablet has been connected to a smartphone. As mentioned, the device launches tomorrow in Japan and it is expected to go on sale for 37,800 Yen, which equates to about $305. At the moment, few details are known as to whether (or when) the Qua Tab 01 will become more internationally available.
