LG’s G4 packs a serious punch on many levels, not the least of which is the incredible 16MP camera that’s situated on the back of the phone. The experience isn’t just powered by the latest in Sony sensors, it’s also backed by a brand new camera software suite that LG put together just for the G4 including a super powerful manual mode. Auto is of course the best way for many people to take pictures in most situations, but sometimes just a little bit of tweaking here and there can make a huge difference in the quality of your photos. We’re not just talking about technical things like where to hold the phone or how to angle your shots for best effect, but also knowing how to make the most out of the software included. To aid in this LG has put together a rather nice infogram that you can find at the bottom of this post which you’ll certainly want to read for full effect, but we’ll highlight a couple of things here for you.
LG starts with the selfie mode since that seems to be all the craze these days. LG packed a wide-angle lens on the front of the G4 which not only helps bring in more light than previous front-facing cameras by LG but also gets more in the picture than you may have been able to do before. This not only helps with group shots but also gets more of the background in the photo so that you’re not just taking a picture of yourself, but also of the things surrounding you. LG also packed in some awesome software features that keep you from having to press the shutter button to just take the picture and has included not only a timer function but also a gesture function to take the picture just by making a hand gesture or even saying “cheese”.
Dialing down into more technical details LG covers things like manual shutter, which can help when needing additional light in the scene or trying to make something like a waterfall more dramatic. There’s also some coverage on the old “rule of thirds” that’s been popular with nailing good shots forever now, and LG makes that easy by providing a simple grid on the screen. Last but certainly not least LG covers the panorama mode, which can shoot photos in up to 104MP resolution, as well as covering the HDR mode and what situations using that might be most appropriate for.
