Motorola has showcased their new ‘Moto’ lineup today. The company has unveiled three new devices, the Moto X Style, Moto X Play and the third-gen Moto G handset. We’ve covered each of these devices separately, and it’s time to take a closer look at the Moto X Play. Unfortunately, this handset wasn’t available for a hands-on test on the event, so we weren’t able to check it out in person just. Anyhow, let’s take a closer look at the specifications of the Moto X Play, shall we.
The Motorola Moto X Play sports a 5.2-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display and with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top of it. This handset actually sports a metal frame, and a rather interesting back cover which is made out of silicone materials. The phone also features 2GB of RAM and 16 or 32GB of internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD card). This handset is powered by the Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor which is manufactured by Qualcomm, and which ships with an Adreno 405 GPU for graphics.
The 21-megapixel camera is available on the back of this thing, and below it you’ll find a dual-LED, dual tone flash. The 5-megapixel shooter is available on the front side of this smartphone, and a huge 3,630mAh battery can be found on the inside. Speaking of the battery, this device comes bundled with Motorola’s TurboPower 25 Charger which is extremely fast and offers the fastest smartphone charging on the planet according to the company. The Motorola Moto X Play also comes equipped with 4G LTE connectivity, and will be available in Black and White color options. Interesting enough, the Moto X Play is water repellent, which is always a good thing. The device measures 148 x 75 x 8.9-10.9mm, while it weighs 169 grams.
As far as software goes, Moto X Play ships with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop pre-installed. This is an almost stock Android experience, as we’re used to seeing from Motorola at this point, but there are a couple of Motorola apps / features installed on it. The Moto Voice, Moto Display, Moto Assist and Moto Actions all come pre-installed here. The Moto X Play will also be available on Moto Maker, just like the other two Moto handsets Motorola announced alongside this device.
