Motorola Moto X Style Specs

Motorola is back at it once again, releasing yet another Moto X smartphone into the world. This time around, they’ve taken a different approach to things, once again growing in size and becoming a more competitive handset in terms of specs. However, this is no longer the only Moto X out there, the Moto X Style is their 5.7-inch powerhouse that offers the best of the best with all the customization you could want. Gone are the days of a custom chipset from the very first Moto X, and the Snapdragon 801 in last year’s model has been thoroughly superseded with this new model. While the Moto X and Moto G devices have not been about specs, and more about the overall experience, these things do matter, and the Moto X Style certainly brings the heat. Which is why we’re going to go over just what’s on the inside of the Moto X (2015) in this, our comprehensive specs post.

First up is the display on the Moto X Style, which is a sizeable 5.7-inch with a Quad HD (2560 x 1440) resolution and a screen-to-body ratio of 76% which makes that physically, the Moto X Style isn’t any larger than the iPhone 6 Plus and its 5.5-inch 1080p display. This appears to be an LCD display instead of the AMOLED displays we’ve seen on previous devices as there’s no mention of AMOLED in the literature. Powering the show is a 1.8 Ghz Snapdragon 808 CPU with 3GB of RAM to back it up, which is a six-core CPU rather than the eight-core CPUs in the Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9 from earlier this year. This could also help with heat and performance issues other devices have been suffering from earlier this year. Keeping things going is a 3,000 mAh battery that feature TurboCharging once again, but has been bumped to deliver 10 hours of battery life from just 15 minutes. This is certainly an improvement over last year’s Moto X battery.

Out of the box is stock Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, with Google’s vision for Android left mostly alone, as well as the return of key features like Moto Active and Moto Voice.

For those disappointed with last year’s Moto X camera, they’ll be happy to see that there’s a 21-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture in the Moto X Style. This can record up to 4K quality and offers a Dual CCT flash. Around the front, Motorola has packed in a front-facing flash to help the 5-megapixel camera and its 87-degree wide-angle lens.

In the US, the Moto X Style will be made available as a ‘Pure Edition’, sold directly through Motorola, giving it the ability to work on ay US carrier, including full 4G LTE support. It will feature microSD expansion up to 128GB as well as be available in 16, 32 and 64GB variants starting at $399.
