Compared to yesterday, today has been much calmer in terms of OnePlus news. Of course, it could not be much busier than it was yesterday, with a number of reports emerging including images which seemed to suggest that the OnePlus 2 will come sporting a front facing 8-megapixel camera and a dual-lens camera on the back. Well, the most interesting news of yesterday came in the form of a Bluetooth SIG listing which seemed to show three variants of the OnePlus 2. Or at least, this is the assumption which was being made. In short, the Bluetooth SIG filing showed model numbers A2001, A2003 and A2005. As such, whether they are all variants of the OnePlus 2 or just three different OnePlus devices, the news was big news.
It is largely thought that the A2001 is the OnePlus 2. This seems to make the most sense, as it (sort of) follows from the OnePlus One model number A0001. Not to mention, the A2001 has been spotted in benchmarks before. However, it seems last night, reports also started to emerge that the A2003 was spotted being benchmarked on Geekbench over the weekend. What is interesting, is that the benchmarks suggest the A2003 variant will come with 4GB RAM. This is certainly an upgrade from the OnePlus One’s 3GB RAM and would be inline with what is probably expected from the likes of the OnePlus 2.
However, it is also worth pointing out that this is not the first time that the A2003 has been benchmarked. Back in May, the A2003 showed up on benchmarks which seemed to confirm that this device variant comes running with only 3GB RAM. As such, the discrepancy is a discrepancy worth noting and especially as the two benchmarks are only six weeks apart. On a separate note, both the current benchmarking and the previous May one confirm the inclusion of the Snapdragon 810, which is a spec that has now been officially confirmed by OnePlus. As such, the mystery goes on as to how much RAM the OnePlus 2 will have, not to mention whether there will be one, two or even three variants of the device.
