Official: Xiaomi Sold 34.7 Million Devices In H1 2015

Xiaomi is currently the number one smartphone manufacturer in China. We’ve talked about this company many times before, and most of you probably already know that it’s one of the fastest growing smartphone OEMs both in China and the world. Xiaomi has recently announced their expansion to Brasil, and other markets will most probably follow soon as well. That being said, Xiaomi has shipped 61 million smartphones in 2014, and a report surfaced a week ago stating that they managed to sell 34.7 million units in the first half of this year. Well, Xiaomi has just officially confirmed that information and provided some additional info to share with our readers, read on.

This China-based smartphone OEM has sold 34.7 million handsets in the first half of this year, which is an increase of 33% year-on-year. “Even with the China smartphone market slowing down, we did a stellar job of posting a 33% growth on last year’s numbers. It can be said that we outperformed the market and produced an excellent report card,” said Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s founder and CEO. Xiaomi has also revealed that they’re selling 70% of their smartphones via their official Mi.com website in China. The company also added that they sold 2.12 million smartphones during the Mi Fan Festival back in April, they managed to sell that many devices in just 12 hours. Xiaomi has also been working on expanding their production capacity, supply chain management, as well as technology and design capabilities. The Mi 2, Mi 3, Redmi 1S, Redmi Note, Mi 4 and Redmi 2 have each been sold in over 10 million units.

This is all very impressive considering this company was founded in 2010, which still makes them a very young company compared to their competitors. Xiaomi has recently started selling the Redmi 2 handset in Brasil, and it is possible that they’re going to offer more devices over there in the coming months. This Chinese smartphone OEM also plans to start manufacturing smartphones in India, which will certainly boost their sales in that Asian country as well. Xiaomi means business, they intend to sell between 80 and 100 million handsets by the end of this year, and it will certainly be interesting to see if they can pull that off.
