Motorola has announced it is to hold an event next week, on Tuesday to be precise. There are a number of rumors circulating as to what Motorola may be announcing next week including stories of the third generation Moto X, Moto G and perhaps even a new DROID device as an exclusive smartphone for Verizon Wireless. When it comes to the Moto G, we have seen conflicting stories concerning the specification of the device, seemingly ranging from the scale of the Android smartphone being powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 with 1 GB of memory up to the Snapdragon 610 System-on-Chip and with 2 GB of memory. We have also seen stories that the new Moto G will be based around a 720p or a 1080p display. One possibility was that Motorola were working on releasing two different Moto G models, but with a notably different specification. Now a leaked document showing that two quite different Moto G devices have been certified by Indian import / export database, Zauba.
The key difference concerns the RAM and internal storage available for each model, as the documentation shows one Moto G shipping with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage and the second has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. The 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal storage device is only available in black whereas the 2 GB RAM, 16 GB storage model is available in black or white. Each device has the same model designation, XT1550, and the same size of screen reported at 5.0-inch. However, the information does not detail anything else about the handsets such as processor type, screen resolution, battery capacity, network capability or software version.
We may speculate as to the other differences between these two devices; perhaps the 2 GB RAM, 16 GB storage model has a higher screen resolution and a more powerful System-on-Chip compared with the 1 GB RAM, 8 GB storage Moto G? The higher specification smartphone is more likely to include 4G LTE, although it is also possible that Motorola will give both devices LTE as standard. Unfortunately, in the absence of any more detail we will need to wait until next Tuesday’s announcement in the hope of clarifying matters but as soon as we hear something, we will let you know.
