Wearable devices have become extremely popular as of the past few recent years. Alongside smartwatches, consumers have actively sought out wristbands that are based around health and thanks to manufacturer Xiaomi, consumers have been able to afford these wristbands without breaking the bank. Xiaomi has released a device known as the Xiaomi Mi Band which is a wristband that can track a number of different health based statistics throughout the day. Now it looks like the next installment for Xiaomi will be the Mi Band 1s and that it may be announced as early as tomorrow, July 22, 2015. This, of course, is speculation, but Xiaomi gave a nice hint that suggests the announcement is underway.
Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi already has a device set to launch tomorrow which is the 32GB variant model of the Xiaomi Mi 4i smartphone. Going alongside this launch may be the reveal of the second generation of the Xiaomi Mi Band 1S. Earlier today, Xiaomi released an image through their social media pages which showcase the new activity tracker. Alongside the image is a line text that translates to “Good Things Happen Tomorrow” which is likely teasing the announcement of the already rumored second generation of their popular wristband. In regards to what exactly the Xiaomi Mi Band 1S will be capable of tracking, the device should be able to keep details of your sleep regiment, movement, your daily workouts and have the ability to wake up your handset as long as it’s running Google’s Android operating system.
Unlike other wristbands on the market such as the Fitbit, the Xiaomi Mi Band doesn’t contain a display anywhere on the device. Because the wristband lacks any display, consumers will have to connect the device to their Android handset to see any of the tracking details the device has captured. One of the benefits of not containing a display is that Xiaomi has managed to keep costs down to which these wristbands were considerably cheaper within the different markets. For less than $20 consumers could pick up the Xiaomi Mi Band and it’s likely that they’ll be able to keep a similar price point for the Mi Band 1s. No official pricing details have been discovered just yet, but it might be long before those details as well as others are unveiled for the new tracker.
