Samsung made a great impact with the highly anticipated Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, both devices packed some of the best specs to be included in any smartphone to date. Although the premium hardware is somewhat characteristic of the flagship Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, it made the price for both devices to rise up significantly, which kept away a lot of potential customers. Samsung has a history of quickly acknowledging this issue about the company’s flagship devices, and eventually releases a smaller and more accessible version of the flagship. As of today, Samsung still hasn’t mentioned its plans to launch said variant of the Galaxy S6, but fortunately new leaked images of the alleged Samsung Galaxy S6 Mini have just been made public, which point out to the eventual release of the device.
The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge were released in April of this same year, and since then only the Galaxy S6 Active variant has been released to the public. Samsung has had great success with the previous iterations of “Mini” devices as most normal users prefer the most accessible device over the most powerful, as these are mainly appealing to power users. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Mini will be featuring the same metal and glass design that was implemented with the flagship Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. The Galaxy S6 Mini will boast a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC processor with 2GB of RAM, which will power a display with a 720p resolution, and a 15MP rear-facing camera. The upcoming variant will also be significantly smaller than the Galaxy S6, with a 4.6 or 4.7-inch screen.
The anonymous person who provided the newly released leaked images also stated that the Galaxy S6 Mini will be released in just a few months, most likely scheduled for August. If the device is actually released in August, its release date would coincide with the gap between Samsung’s previous flagship, the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy S5 Mini. But even if all the available information points towards this release date, it is still one of the first rumors that have surfaced about the Galaxy S6 Mini and should be taken with a grain of salt.
