Just yesterday, we learned that the Galaxy Tab S2 would become official on July 20th, which is this coming Monday. We’ve seen various leaks in the past and rumors about what it would look like and the specs to expect. But now the folks over at Tablet Monkeys have gotten their hands on the specs of each of the Galaxy Tab S2 models that are due to be announced on Monday. Before we go further, it’s important to note that these are not confirmed – at least until Samsung confirms them – thus we must take this information with a grain of salt.
First the model numbers, the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 is supposedly the SM-T810, with the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 being the SM-T710. The SM-T810 is rumored to sport a 9.7-inch display with a 2560×1440 resolution and of course it’ll be Super AMOLED. Additionally it’s going to run the Exynos 7420 internally. It’s noteworthy that this is the same processor that is used in the Galaxy S6. It’ll also come with 3GB of RAM along with a 8MP camera on the back, along with a 2.1MP front-facing camera. We’re looking at a 5870mAh battery inside along with 32GB of internal storage. Samsung has opted to bring back the microSD card as well.
Onto the SM-T710, which will have a 4:3 aspect ratio. So expect something close to the iPad’s display of 2048×1536. Of course, it’ll be Super AMOLED. Otherwise, the specs are largely the same as the 9.7-inch version. It’ll also have the Exynos 7420, 3GB of RAM, 8MP and 2MP cameras, although it will have a slightly smaller battery. We’re looking at about a 4000mAh battery in the 8-inch Galaxy Tab S2.
Both tablets are said to be featuring Android 5.0 Lollipop. We’re assuming it’s Android 5.0.2, and hopefully Android 5.1 isn’t far out. Along with this leak of the specs, we also have some prices. The Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 is going to go for $399 USD,and the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 will be priced at $499 USD. The 4G LTE versions of these tablets will cost an additionally $99. So that’s $498 for the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 4G LTE, and $598 for the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 4G LTE. Pretty similar pricing to the original Galaxy Tab S.
