Samsung is one of the few Smartphone makers that seem decided to keep trying other form factors rather than the current one consisting in a touchscreen surrounded by bezels that are getting thinner to fit a larger display in a relatively compact body, and the rest of the hardware is enclosed in a body from very diverse materials, most offering some color options. A few days ago, a flip phone was spotted in a brochure of the company, its specs belonged to a device in the lower-end. So what about creating another phone with that same form factor but giving it high-end specs? Samsung is ready for that answer as another phone with model number SM-G9198 received the TENAA certification.
When flip-phones were all the rage, they featured larger screens than those found on candybar and even secondary screens on the outside to take selfies even before the word existed with other uses being getting texts or controlling the music player without needing to open the phone. The aforementioned phone takes cues from this old trend and includes two identical screens, one on the outside and one on the inside, both measuring 3.91 inches and using AMOLED technology with a resolution of 768 x 1280 pixels. This might help to keep the device relatively compact at 119.7 x 66.6 mm, but it is very thick for today’s standards at 16.7 mm, plus it is certainly heavier than most flagships at 191 grams.
The reported processor that powers this handset is the hexa-core Snapdragon 808 at 1.8GHz along 2 GB of RAM and it comes with Android 5.1 out of the box. Its internal memory is 16 GB, but it can be expanded by Micro SD cards with capacities up to 128 GB. The main camera has a 16-megapixel resolution and the one in the front is a 5-megapixel one, this phone even includes a heart-rate sensor next to the main camera as some other models from the company. It is unknown if the phone will be sold around the globe, as past iterations have only been available in some regions of Asia, although its high-end specs might allure some nostalgic users to be interested in such device.
