SanDisk Unveils A Flash Drive With Wi-Fi Connectivity

The advances in mobile technology included in current smartphones and tablets has made possible to take photographs in a very high-quality and record videos in 4K quality, but this pictures can take up a lot of space in those devices and let’s not forget about the apps and games that can also reduce significantly the included memory. When it comes to storage options, the future seems to be cloud-based services such as Dropbox or similar ones because they offer advantages like being able to switch platforms and still have your files available and make changes to documents in real time. SanDisk has provided a lot of storage options in a physical media format, from solid-state drives to microSD cards used in mobile devices, including some with very high capacity. Now, this company has created a flash drive that combines the safety of having your files stored on a physical media format but can also communicate wirelessly with a variety of devices.

The SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick makes it easy to access, share and transfer files between the flash drive and computers, smartphones or other electronics that support Wi-Fi connectivity, while making this an affordable option for those users that need a little more memory on one or more devices. It might come in handy especially now that smartphone manufacturers are deciding to remove the external storage options in favor of a seamless design, you could just carry it in your pocket or backpack and sync your files between the two devices. This flash drive can also share the stored files with multiple devices at once and even stream videos or music with up to 3 devices at once as long as they are close enough.

SanDisk has also created a companion app compatible with Android and iOS devices to manage the content of the flash drive as well as enabling features like backing up photos and videos taken with the camera. Of course, the Wireless Stick can be plugged into a computer and be used as a regular flash drive while charging its integrated battery that could last for 4.5 hours streaming content to a single device. It is now available from the company’s website and other retailers in capacities of 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB and their prices range from $29.99 to $99.99.
