Sony And ZMP Working Together To Launch New Drone

Sony is a company similar to Samsung as they’re not only dedicated to manufacturing and selling smartphones, with a more than broad market including cameras, televisions, audio systems, and even computers. Today, the Japan-based company has announced that it is planning to enter a relatively new market; Sony recently revealed that it will be working together with the innovative ZMP to create drones specifically designed for enterprise use. Both companies’ will form a brand new joint venture called “Aerosense” and will begin functioning in early August of this same year. This new move by Sony shows the new overall focus it has taken with the new trend that is the Internet of Things, and just how committed the company is to this sector of the market.

The drones created by Aerosense will take advantage of several technologies developed by Sony including the company’s camera, sensing, telecommunications network and great mechanical advances. On the other hand, ZMP is one of the world’s most visionary companies whose stated mission is “Robot of Everything: To create a safe, fun and comfortable lifestyle with robotics technology.” and will be providing all of its own automated driving technologies and state-of-the-art robotics to give their upcoming enterprise-oriented drones a completely autonomous functionality. As of today, all of ZMP’s inventions have been limited to the ground, but the company is eager to try their hand at aerodynamics. Although Aerosense is planning to begin selling these drones in the first quarter of 2016, it is still too early to give an exact release date.

There are quite a lot of major companies that have been contemplating the possible commercial release of these types of unmanned aerial vehicles, but just a few have actually announced their plans to develop any kind of drone. Sony is looking to take advantage of the incredible global expansion that the drone and Internet of Things market has been facing, and went ahead and publicized its intentions to give an added value to the upcoming Aerosense drones. These unique features will most likely utilize the expertise of both ZMP and Sony to develop a drone able to connect with a number of different devices to provide enterprises with endless usage capabilities.
