TRI Announces Turing Phone Pre-Orders Begin July 31st

Unique smartphones come in all shapes and sizes, but few offer something truly unique which others do not. The Turing Phone from Turing Robotic Industries for example comes with the world’s first liquid metal-frame, or as TRI describes it, a Liquidmorphium smartphone. A device with a metal body will be just another device with a metal body though to many customers, so it’s important to detail what differentiates the Turing Phone from other devices with a metal body or frame. What helps to set the Turing Phone apart is that it is molded from a single piece of Liquidmorphium, which TRI states helps to improve the shock absorbent capabilities of the device which in turn is going to help reduce the damage from drops. Liquidmorphium is said to be an unbendable metal stronger than titanium and steel, so you could imagine what this would do for protection of the device’s hardware components.

TRI has announced today that the phone will be available for pre-order starting July 31st which is of course at the end of this month, and it will be available in three different model variations of 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage size options, at prices of $610, $740, and $870 respectively. Those who choose to pre-order the device can do so from the company’s website. Besides the Liquidmorphium body construction of the device, it also comes with heightened security. According to TRI, the Turing Phone uses an end-to-end decentralized authentication system which is completely isolated from cyber-attacks and invasion of privacy, something which is becoming increasingly important these days. Because of this type of technology on the device, TRI states that users can be free of worry when exchanging sensitive information like SSN’s and bank info.

Other features of the Turing Phone include IPx8 waterproof certification thanks to TRI’s Binnacle Ocean Master nano-coating technology, which grants the Turing Phone the capability to be submerged in up to 30 feet of water. In most cases users’ probably wouldn’t need to exercise this particular function, but there are likely more times than most people could count when it would have been nice to have a waterproof phone in rainy situations. TRI hasn’t released all the specific details of the device yet, like which colors it will be available in, but they do state it will be available in four color schemes total which they’ll announce on July 22nd. There are also no details about the hardware specs like processor type, cameras or battery just yet, but we imagine those details will also be made available at a later time closer to the pre-order date at the end of this month. For those who pick up a Turing Phone during the pre-order stage, they’ll receive a special bonus accessory bundle which comes with a Bluetooth keyboard, a gaming Bluetooth earphone, gaming Bluetooth headphones, and a mobile gaming controller, effectively setting customers up for a complete mobile gaming experience. In addition, TRI will be releasing an SDK for the Turing Phone this August, and they expect to open up their first U.S.-based retail store in the first quarter of 2016.
