Xiaomi’s Mi 5 and Redmi Note 2 handsets are quite probably the most rumored devices in the last couple of weeks. These two smartphones are due to launch in the next couple of months, and we’ve seen quite a lot of content when it comes to both of them. That being said, additional info surfaced when it comes to the Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship, the Mi 5. Let’s check out what’s new, shall we.
We’ve seen so many rumors regarding the Mi 5’s launch date that we really don’t know what to believe at this point. The newly surfaced rumor claims that the device will land next month, on August 5th. The previous rumor suggested that the device won’t launch before November, so it all depends on who you want to believe at this point. It’s very probable we’ll see more such rumors before this device arrives.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 is rumored to sport a 5.2-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display along with 3GB of RAM and a 3,000mAh battery. The 16-megapixel rear-facing shooter has also been rumored, same goes for the 13-megapixel front-facing camera. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core SoC will reportedly power this handset, though the Snapdragon 820 has also been mentioned several times. The Mi 5 will also offer Fast Charging which will be able to charge the phone up from 0 to 30% in 40 minutes, we presume this is referring to Qualcomm’s Quick Charge feature.
That’s more or less everything we (think we) know thus far. The Mi 5 quite probably also sport an all-metal design, and the Mi 5 Plus handset has also been mentioned. The Mi 5 Plus will reportedly be a bigger variant of the Mi 5, and will sport a somewhat higher-end specifications as well (4GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 820). Take all this info with a grain of salt though, these are all rumors and leaks we’re talking about here. Xiaomi has been teasing quite a few announcement lately, and it is possible that the Mi 5 will arrive sooner than expected, but we’ll see. Either way, stay tuned for more information, we’ll report back as soon as possible.
