As many of you know, Xiaomi has announced a number of smartphones this year already. One of the more interesting devices this Chinese smartphone OEM has released is the Mi 4i handset which launched in India (initially). This is a mid-range offering by Xiaomi which sports solid build quality and more than decent specifications, while it doesn’t cost all that much at all. The Mi 4i has been available in India for quite some time now, and it seems like Xiaomi is getting ready to launch yet another version of this device.
Xiaomi has sent out an interesting post on their official website speaking of the Mi 4i and basically indirectly teasing something, a new release along with the upcoming flash sale of the already available Mi 4i handset. Well, reports from China suggest that the company might be planning to release a new variant of their Mi 4i handset, and it seems like we’ve already seen this device benchmarked on Geekbench. I don’t know if you recall, but a Xiaomi ‘Libra’ handset has surfaced on Geekbench quite recently, a device which actually reminded us of Mi 4i in terms of specs. Well, the ‘Libra’ actually features the Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core SoC, and not the Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor like the original Mi 4i. According to the newest report, this smartphone is actually the new variant of the Mi 4i Xiaomi plans to announce in the near future.
The specifications of this smartphone will basically remain the same, aside from the fact it will be powered by a significantly more powerful processor. The Xiamoi Mi 4i (new variant) will feature a 5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) IPS LCD display along with 2GB of RAM and it will ship with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop pre-installed with Xiaomi’s MIUI OS on top of Google’s operating system. The device will feature a 13-megapixel camera on the back, and will pack in a 3,120mAh battery, at least if the rumor is to be believed. This handset will also offer 4G LTE connectivity, and you’ll be able to take advantage of two SIM cards which will be available on the inside. We’ll let you know as soon as additional info pops up, stay tuned.
