Xiaomi Redmi 2 Gets A Price Cut In China And India

Xiaomi really didn’t hold back when it comes to releasing devices this year. China’s number one smartphone OEM has released a bunch of smartphones and all sorts of smart gadgets this year. One of those released handsets was the affordable Redmi 2 smartphone which was announced back in January. The Redmi 2 is a direct successor to the Redmi 1S which is one of Xiaomi’s best-selling devices ever. The Redmi 2 sales have been going really well according to the last information we have, and Xiaomi decided to further discount the device, read on.

This Chinese smartphone OEM has discounted the Redmi 2 both in China and India. The Xiaomi Redmi 2 now costs only 599 Yuan ($97) in China, which makes it 100 Yuan ($16) cheaper than it was when it launched. The Redmi 2 was launched in India back in March, and the device is now Rs. 1,000 ($16) cheaper than it was when it launched. The Redmi 2 now costs only Rs. 5,999 ($95) in India, and I don’t know if you recall, but the Redmi Note 4G was also discounted in that Asian country last week and it costs Rs. 7,999 ($126). If you were interested in picking up the Redmi 2 in either China or India, now would be the time.

The Xiaomi Redmi 2 sports a 4.7-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. This handset if fueled by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 64-bit octa-core processor which ships with an Adreno 306 GPU for graphics. The 8-megapixel camera is located on the back of the Redmi 2, and a 2-megapixel shooter is available up front. The 2,200mAh battery is also a part of this package, and Redmi 2 also offers 4G LTE connectivity. Android 4.4.4 KitKat comes pre-installed on this device with Xiaomi’s MIUI OS 6.0 installed on top of it. The Redmi 2 is a dual-SIM device, while it measures 134 x 67.2 x 9.4 and weighs 133 grams.
