Android How To: Choose Which Apps Can Google Now Scan Through

Google dabbles in all sorts of tech these days, they’re manufacturing operating systems, creating self-driving cars, developing mapping solutions, dabbling in solar tech… and so on. That being said, the word ‘Google’ still reminds most people of one thing, the company’s search engine. The phrase ‘Google it!’ is constantly used by people all over the world, and even the most non-tech-savvy people in the world have heard of Google internet search. That being said, Google Search has evolved significantly in the last couple of year, and the company has introduced their Google Now service, which is used by millions of people today.

That being said, Google Now is a personal assistant capable of so many things. Not everyone knows every single feature it offers, and we’re here to help out with that to an extent. If you’ve wondered how to choose which apps (installed on your device) will Google Now search and index on Android, you’re in the right place. The first thing you need to do is open Google Now, you can do this through the app drawer, or you can use one of the other methods (depending on the device). Next thing you’ll have to do is tap on the hamburger button in the upper left corner. Once you’ve done that, choose ‘Settings’, and then ‘Phone Search’ within settings. Once the ‘Phone Search’ menu opens, you’ll be able to choose the apps you want Google Now to search and index. You don’t know what to choose? Well, simply de-select applications you don’t normally use and you’ll be good to go.

There you have it. Now that you’ve done this, Google Now will be far more helpful, and won’t throw useless info in your face. Keep in mind that Google’s personal assistant isn’t exactly perfect, nothing is, so don’t expect useful info every time you open it.
