Android One Comes To Thailand With The i-mobile iQ II

When Google announced Android One, they set out to bring affordable Android handsets to emerging markets that could provide a stock Android experience for little money compared to other devices. Google initially only launched Android One in India, and has since rolled it out to other emerging markets like Pakistan and Myanmar, and as of today Google is rolling Android One out to Thailand. This displays Google’s commitment to continue developing the Android One program all the while working with partners to produce new smartphone models built and designed specifically for Android One and the consumers who the program targets.

With Thailand being a new market, Google is also introducing a new device with the launch of the i-mobile iQ II smartphone. This device runs on the latest version of the Android software: Android 5.1.1 Lollipop so it’s already ahead of some regular Android devices from other OEMs in this regard. Since this is an Android One device users should expect low-end specifications but that doesn’t mean bad specs. The i-mobile iQ II sports a 5-inch HD display, which is a pretty decent size for the price at 4,444 THB which is equal to about $126 USD. Aside from the screen size, the iQ II also comes equipped with 16GB of internal storage as well expandable storage up to a 32GB microSD card.

It’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor and has 1GB of RAM, and it also supports dual SIM, as well as 2G, 3G, and 4G networks for the region. On the back it carries an 8MP camera, with a 2MP camera up front for video chat and selfies. As for the battery, it’s a 2500mAh battery rated for about 8 hours of talk time so it may or may not last users all day depending on what they do with the device. This is the first Android One smartphone available in Thailand but it likely won’t be the last as Google continues to expand Android One out to other emerging markets and bring new devices for the program to existing ones. The i-mobile iQ II will be available in both Black and White models for consumers in Thailand, and can be picked up at the i-mobile website.
