Google Introduces Stagefright Fix for Seven Nexus Devices
There’s no doubt you will have heard of the big, bad stage fright problem plaguing some Android devices this week. Well, Google have been quick off the mark and while many devices will see an OTA update rolling out, Google have updated seven devices with factory images. Each one of these has a build number of LMY48I and the new factory images have been issued for the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7 2013 (WiFi only as of yet), Nexus 9 (Both WiFi and LTE) and the Nexus 10. Sprint Attacks Stagefright Head On With Update Barrage
Sprint might not be the fastest network out there, or the most affordable, but this week they will have no doubt gained some bonus points among users. Sprint didn’t take stagefright lying down, and have already rolled out a number of OTAs. We’re just going to link to the Sprint support pages as we go, starting with the Nexus 5 and Nexus 6. The next load of devices Sprint took care of fixing started with last year’s Galaxy S5, moved on to the Galaxy Note Edge and finished up with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. No doubt more of these are coming.
AT&T Kicks Off Stagefright Updates With Samsung Clan
Not to be outdone by Sprint, AT&T has rolled out a number of updates to patch the stagefright exploit on their most popular devices. They just so happen to be Samsung devices as well. As we did for the Sprint updates, we’re just going to link to their support pages in the order they were released. Starting things off is the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S5 Active, followed by the Galaxy Note 4 ending up with the Galaxy S6 Active.
HTC One M9 Gets Android 5.1 in Europe
If you’re an HTC One M9 user in Europe, you perhaps finally got the update to Android 5.1.1 this week. The software version of 2.10.401.1 comes in at over 800MB so perhaps something for WiFi. For such a large file size, HTC only list Android 5.1 and a quicker charging time, other than that, there’s not much else to write home about here.
