Cubot is not exactly a high-profile Chinese smartphone manufacturer, but this company is definitely trying to succeed by releasing affordable, and yet well-specced smartphones. Cubot is actually using a similar business model to some other China-based OEMs, like Mlais, Elephone, Ulefone, Siswoo, etc. What I mean by that, is that they promote and release the handset, and then offer it for sale via a number of China-based resellers which ship those devices all over the world. That being said, we’ve recently reviewed one of Cubot’s devices, the entry-level Cubot X12 smartphone which offers a great battery life.
This time around, we’ll talk about Cubot X15, a device which offers a significantly more powerful specs than the X12, but it’s still a mid-range device. The Cubot X12 sports a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) IPS display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. This device is powered by MediaTek’s MT6735 64-bit quad-core SoC running at 1.3GHz, and Android 5.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed on it. The 13-megapixel camera is located on the back of this handset, and a 5-megapixel snapper can be found up front. The device measures 153 x 76 x 6.9mm, and it weighs 177 grams, while a 2,750mAh battery is also a part of this package.

As you can see, the device actually sports three capacitive buttons (menu, home and back) below the display, and it looks really sleek. That being said, the Cubot X15 is available for pre-order in Gold and White color options from a number of Chinese resellers, like GearBest for example. You can pre-order this smartphone for approximately $166 until August 25th when the pre-orders end. The Cubot X15 is expected to ship soon after August 25th, just in case you were wondering, but we still don’t have an exact date as far as that is concerned.
