Facebook is one of the most important social networks and it seems to be becoming even more powerful by every acquisition. On Android, they have many apps available, most of them are add-ons for Messenger. The company even created their own launcher called Home, which allowed an easier access to their apps and browse some pictures directly from the lock screen. The company recently created an app called Moments to make sharing photos of certain events easier than ever. The app will group photos based on the persons that appear at that picture as well as the time they were taken. Then, users can select some Facebook friends to share those grouped photos with them so that photos will be synced among them. People in that group can also choose to sync their photos so that they are all in one place and viewable by anyone in the group.
Moments received its first major update today with new features, the biggest addition is that any group of at least six photos could be transformed into a small video with music included. If users don’t like the automatic creation, they can tap into the file to customize the photos they want to include and the music that goes along with them, there are 12 different choices depending on the occasion. Another tap will let users share the video on Facebook and tag some friends, the app will automatically suggest some tags, but in case those are incorrect or the user wants to add some more, they can do this here.
This functionality is similar to the one provided by Google Photos and its Assistant feature that creates stories with the collages of pictures. The advantage for Facebook users is that these files are uploaded directly into this social network, but users won’t be able to share these creations in other social networks or with people who aren’t Facebook users. Other improvements that are included in the update are the possibility of creating your own Moments by tapping the button at the top right, support for more languages and the progress of the uploading pictures is now visible.
