A dual-SIM variant of Samsung’s upcoming flagship phablet, the Galaxy Note 5 (model number SM-N9208), has been listed on the website of Malaysian wireless certification agency SIRIM. According to the listing, the device will support 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1.8 GHz and 1.9 GHz bands for GSM, 900 MHz and 2.1 GHz bands for HSPA and 850 MHz, 1.8 GHz and 2.6 GHz bands for LTE connectivity. The listing also indicates that the device will come with dual band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac support, along with Bluetooth and NFC. While we don’t get to know much else from the SIRIM listing, previous leaks have given quite a few pointers at just what the upcoming device may look like in terms of the hardware on offer. The much-anticipated smartphone is expected to be announced at this year’s ‘Unpacked’ event to be held in New York City on August 13th.
The Galaxy Note 5 is rumored to feature a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440, and a pixel density of 515 ppi. According to latest rumors, the device will be powered by a top-of the-line Exynos 7420 chipset, which can already be found inside the company’s current flagships, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones. Previous rumors had suggested that Samsung will put an Exynos 7422 SoC in the upcoming phablet. No one really knows for certain either one way or another so we’ll just have to wait till Samsung makes the device official to know for sure. As for the Exynos 7420, the chipset comes with an embedded 64-bit octa-core CPU and a Mali-T760 GPU. The Note 5 is rumored to come with 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM, which will make it the very first Samsung device to pack in that much memory even though many other, smaller manufacturers have already hit that mark a while back. Storage options will include a 32 GB version to start off with, while other versions with more available internal storage are also said to be in the works, including one with a massive 128 GB built-in.
Coming to the camera setup on the upcoming Galaxy Note 5, the primary camera on Samsung’s upcoming phablet flagship will come with a 16-megapixel sensor, although, rumors thus far do not seem to indicate the presence of OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). The front-facing secondary camera meanwhile, will have a more humble 5-megapixel sensor, according to reports. The phone will also reportedly run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box, with Samsung’s proprietary TouchWiz interface laid on top. The device is also said to carry a 3,000 mAh battery and will come with the S-Pen stylus that has become a trademark for Samsung’s Note series phablets over the years.
