As most of you probably know, Samsung is holding their Unpacked event in New York today. This Korean tech giant will be announcing their next-gen Galaxy Note phablet today, the Galaxy Note 5. According to more or less every rumor out there, Samsung will also announce the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus phablet alongside the Note 5, which seems to be a bigger variant of the S6 Edge, it will also sport a curved display. We’ve seen a ton of leaks of both the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, and some new info surfaced today, read on.
If you take a look at the gallery down below, you’ll notice a ton of quality Galaxy Note 5 images which go hand-in-hand with what we’ve seen thus far. Keep in mind that this is a prototype created based on the the previous leaks, these are not official images. Anyhow, the device will sport a metallic frame, and the home button is back once again. The Overview capacitive button will be located on the left side of the home button, and the back key will be placed on the right. For all intense and purposes, this is a typical Samsung Galaxy handset it seems, at least as far as the general design language goes. The S Pen stylus will be located in the lower right portion of the Galaxy Note 5, and the speaker is placed on the bottom as well along with the 3.5mm headphone jack. The rear-facing camera will protrude a little bit, and the oval physical home button / fingerprint scanner is clearly visible here as well.
According to a number of rumors thus far, the Galaxy Note 5 will sport a 5.7-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED display along with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and multiple internal storage variants. Samsung’s very own Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core SoC will fuel this phablet, and a 3,000mAh battery will also be a part of this package. The 16-megapixel OIS camera will be available on the back of the Galaxy Note 5, and a 5-megapixel snapper will be located up front. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will come pre-installed here, and Samsung’s TouchWiz UI will be installed on top of it. According to the available info, the Galaxy Note 5 will go on sale from August 21st.
