Galaxy S6 Edge+ Specs, Pricing and Availability for Canada

Samsung’s big news today was the new Galaxy Note 5, but there was also another big announcement – the new Galaxy S6 Edge+.  Samsung decided against bringing out a Galaxy Note Edge 2 and instead opted for a larger version of the S6 Edge to make up for it.  The S6 Edge+ will be arriving the same day as the Galaxy Note 5, August 21 in Black Sapphire.  So far, our source has confirmed that Rogers, Telus, Bell, SaskTel, Videotron and WIND Mobile will carry the S6 Edge+.  Others will probably follow, but we have no word yet on them.

Pricing that we have so far is that Rogers will sell the 32GB for $459.99 on a two-year term or $960 no-term with pre-orders going live on August 14.  The 64GB version will run you $559.99 on a two-year term and $1,160 no term with pre-orders the same August 14.  Videotron will sell the 32GB S6 Edge+ for $459.95 on a two-year term and $899.95 as an outright purchase.  Pre-orders are live right now.  Bell will sell the 32GB model on a two-year term for $459.99 and $949.99 on a no-term deal.  The 64GB model will sell for $559.99 on a two-year term and $1,049 as an outright purchase.  Pre-orders are live now.  SaskTel will sell the 32GB S6 Edge+ for $459.99 on a two-year contract and the 64GB model is $559.99 on a two-year term.  Pre-orders are now live.

There are not too many differences between the new Galaxy Note 5 and the new Galaxy S6 Edge+, but the display is certainly one of the big differences.  The S6 Edge+ uses a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and 518 pixels-per-inch (PPI).  However, the big difference is the dual edge curved display that really adds that “wow” factor and some functionality.  It uses the same 64-bit Exynos 7420 octa-core 14nm processor found in the other Samsung devices.  It has four cores clocked at 1.5GHz and four cores clocked at 2.1GHz.  It comes with 4GB of DDR4 RAM, you can have your choice of 32GB or 64GB of UFS 2.0 storage, and there is no expansion.

The cameras between the Galaxy S6 models and the S6 Edge+ are identical.  That means one of the best cameras on the market in a smartphone with a 16MP sensor, an aperture of f/1.9, OIS, phase detection autofocus and an LED flash.  The same 5MP FFC with an f/1.9 aperture and wide-angle for great group selfies and video chats.  It has the usual suspects – Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, GPS, a microUSB 2.0 port for adaptive fast charging, wireless charging.
