Galaxy Tab A 8.0 To Launch On T-Mobile On August 19th

Earlier in the week, T-Mobile was said to be getting ready to launch the LTE version of the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 from Samsung at some stage during this month. Looks like the launch has come sooner than many would have expected. T-Mobile has now confirmed that the device is indeed coming to its network on August 19th, and will be available online and in participating retail stores. The carrier has also announced the pricing for the mid-range tablet from Samsung. The device will cost $319.99, and can be bought without any down payment, but 23 monthly installments of $13.34 will be applicable along with one payment of $13.37. The company earlier in the day, announced the launch of the back to school promotion to grab an entry-level Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 7 tablet on its network for zero down payment and zero monthly installments. Before today, the third largest carrier in the US reportedly had just the one tablet in its portfolio – the LG G Pad F 8.0. A.

As for the hardware specifications of the Galaxy Tab A, the listing on the T-Mobile site indicates that the device features an 8-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixel, meaning a 4:3 aspect ratio. As for the processor, the listing mentions a 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU of unspecified make. The tablet will come with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of built-in storage, which will be expandable with the help of a microSD card. The tablet will come with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop pre-installed and support LTE bands 2, 3, 4, 7 and 12. Coming to the imaging options on the Galaxy Tab A 8.0, the rear camera will come with a 5-megapixel sensor, while the front-facing camera will feature a 2-megapixel sensor.

T-Mobile has had a fairly busy day thus far, announcing not only the launch of two different tablets on its network, but also the pre-order prices for Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ smartphones, both of which were announced earlier on in New York City. As for the pricing of those devices, T-Mobile announced that the off-contract 32 GB Galaxy Note 5 on its network would be priced at $699.99, while the off-contract 32 GB version of the S6 Edge+ will cost $779.99 for its customers. When it comes to the 64GB models, the prices for off contract are $779.99 for the Galaxy Note 5 and $859.99 for the Galaxy S6 Edge+.
