Huawei To Announce Mate (7)S Phablet On September 2nd

Huawei has been really active as far as smartphone launches go. They’ve announced quite a few devices this year, including three P8 handsets, the Honor 7 smartphone, two mid-range tablets, the MediaPad M2 premium tablet, and a couple of mid-range phones. The company’s finances are getting better and better as their profits constantly rise, and it seems like Huawei plans to surprise us yet again in the coming months. We’ve seen quite a few leaks regarding this company’s upcoming devices, including the Mate8, Mate8 Plus, Mate7s and Honor 7i leaks.

The Honor 7i will reportedly be a Huawei-branded smartphone with a sliding camera on the back, and the Mate8 is going to be the Mate7’s successor, a premium tablet offering by this Chinese smartphone OEM. That being said, one of Huawei’s handsets has been certified by TENAA recently, and despite the fact some portals are reporting this is the Mate7 Plus, this could actually be the Mate S, at least according to the new info. Huawei has actually released a new teaser on their official Weibo page, teasing the Mate S device and the September 2nd launch date. We cannot confirm that the certified device is, in fact, the Mate S, but it makes sense at the moment. Many Huawei-branded models have leaked recently, and we’ll have to wait for them to release something in order to make sense out of all that.

If you’d like to check out the design of the Mate7 Plus / Mate S, take a look at the gallery down below. This device will be made out of metal, and as you can see, it resembles its predecessor a whole lot. The device will sport a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, and a dual-LED, dual tone flash next to the camera sensor. This listing did not reveal its specifications, unfortunately, but according to some previous leaks, it might be powered by Kirin 935 SoC, and sports 3 and 4GB of RAM (two models). The Mate7 Plus / Mate S will quite probably feature a 5.7-inch 1080p display, and a 13+MP camera on the back. This handset will probably be announced on September 2nd at Huawei’s IFA press conference. That being said, a Huawei-branded device with a curved display has also leaked yesterday, so that is also something that might be launched before the end of the year. Either way, stay tuned for more info.
