Angry Birds is still quite popular, eh? The Rovio franchise is quite old now, and have released a bunch games in the past few years. Pretty much since Android started. Angry Birds 2 was released about 3 days ago, and the game now has 10 million downloads. Now to be fair, that is across Android and iOS, not just Android. The game saw it’s first million downloads in the first 12 hours. So it’s quite popular, still. Angry Birds 2 is a great game for wasting time at a doctors office, or on the subway. I play it quite a bit when flying for different events here and there. It’s a time wasting game that doesn’t require internet.
Unlike previous Angry Bird games, Angry Birds 2 is available as a free download on both Android and iOS. Which is something that previous games couldn’t say. Typically we have a free version and a paid version. With the paid version having many more levels, obviously. The game does offer in-app purchases however, which range from $0.99 to $99. The game is about 68MB in size, so it’s not a small game, but it will keep you going for quite a while.
I’ve been playing Angry Birds 2 on the Moto G 3rd Gen (review spoiler: it plays it quite well). While the game does seem to load up a bit slower than previous games, it appears that the graphics are much better. Which shouldn’t be a surprise seeing as we have QHD displays now, and a few years ago when Angry Birds was really popular, we were using 720p and maybe 1080p displays.
The game is still available for free on Google Play and Apple’s App Store right now, so you can pick it up and fling some birds around. While the concept of the game may sound stupid or childish, it is pretty addicting. It’ll be interesting to see how long it takes Rovio to get to 100 million downloads. Probably just a few short weeks. If Angry Birds 2 was such a great success, might we see more Angry Birds games coming out in the future? I’d say it’s pretty likely.
