With the ever rising popularity in mobile as a gaming platform, more and more big name publishers that we’re used to seeing on PC and consoles have been making the jump to publishing games on Android and other mobile OS platforms. Square Enix is one of these publishers having already released quite a few games onto Android from a number of their most popular franchises. The Tomb Raider series is one of these, with the original Tomb Raider already available on the Play Store, as well as the endless runner titled Lara Croft Relic Run which dropped earlier this year.
Now Square Enix is getting ready to release their next game starring Tomb Raider’s main character called Lara Croft GO, a puzzle type game that follows in the footsteps of Hitman GO which released in 2014. It was already stated that they would be releasing the game by the end of August on the 27th, and now a confirmation that they’ll be launching the game on the Android platform has come through with Square Enix mentioning that in addition to the August 27th date, they have also mentioned the price tag that will come along with it for those who were wondering whether or not it would be a free title. According to Square Enix’s latest blog post on the game, Lara Croft GO will cost interested players a total of $4.99 when it launches. They also released a few new screenshots of the game to enjoy.
If you’ve never had the pleasure of playing the Hitman GO title, it has you solving puzzles of how to get to your main assassination target in a specific number of steps. Lara Croft GO will likely play out in much the same way where you’ll have to direct Lara to her destination in a certain number of moves or the level resets. Square Enix states that “Lara Croft GO expands the turn-based puzzle gameplay and takes you on an adventure set in a long-forgotten world. Explore the ruins of an ancient civilization, discover hidden secrets and face deadly challenges as you uncover the myth of the Queen of Venom.” If you were a fan of Square’s previous turn-based puzzle title, this is one not to miss as it should be equally enjoyable if not more so depending on which franchise you like better.
