Letv is a rather interesting China-based company. They’ve launched three smartphones earlier this year, but they’re an online video streaming company before anything else. That being said, the Letv phones are very well designed and have gained popularity quite fast after they were announced. These devices were unveiled back in April and have a rather limited availability at the moment, but the company did say that the devices will roll out to the US before the end of the year. The devices in question are Letv Le 1, Le 1 Pro and Le Max, and all three of these devices offer high-end spec sheets.
We’ve already talked about each of these devices at length in the past, and it seems like they’re selling really well thus far. Letv has managed to sell 1 million units thus far, and they’ve been available for purchase for 3 months. For comparison’s sake, Xiaomi sold 400,000 in the first year, and OnePlus managed to sell 1 million OnePlus One units in 1 year as well. Le Superphones, as Letv refers to these devices, have been in high demand in China for the last three months. “Obviously, we’re beyond thrilled to have enjoyed such tremendous success, but the numbers only tell half the story. We think there’s a growing appetite among consumers for a new kind of smartphone experience, one in which incremental hardware enhancements take a backseat to premium content and distinctive features like our Ecosystem User Interface,” said the VP and General Manager of Letv’s International Mobile Business, JD Howard. Le Superphones now account for 4.5% online market share in China, and the company managed to sell 564,000 of these devices in June alone.
Letv Le 1 is the lowest-end out of the bunch, and it sports a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 3GB of RAM and is powered by MediaTek’s Helio X10 64-bit octa-core SoC. The 13-megapixel OIS camera is also a part of this package, and the device is made out of plastic and glass. The Letv Le 1 Pro, on the other hand, features a 5.5-inch QHD panel, 4GB of RAM, and is powered by the Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor. This device is made out of metal, and is a smaller variant of the Le Max, a 6.33 phablet which also features 4GB of RAM and is fueled by the Snapdragon 810 processor. The device also sports a 21-megapixel camera, Sony’s IMX230 sensor.
