The Nexus program was created by Google to showcase how the Android operating system should look like. The phones that integrate that program have always had the specs to make sure the OS works as intended too. Google has made some unexpected changes to the program along the way, the Nexus 4, for example, was sold at a very low price at the time it launched, even if it didn’t have the most current specs. The Nexus 5 had some of the best specs available at the time it launched, but the price was kept almost the same compared to its predecessor, although it was higher. The Nexus 6, which was released last year, was launched at a much higher price than the phone it succeeded and while it had some of the greatest specs available at that time, its 6-inch screen made it larger than some users would have liked.
This year, some rumors have pointed out that Google may release two Nexus phones, one made by LG and one made by Huawei, being the first time a Chinese manufacturer is chosen to make a phone that belongs to this program. We’ve heard some rumors about the specs of both devices, being the Huawei-made phone the larger of the two. The LG Nexus is rumored to have a 5.2-inch screen, which might be considered a tad small for today’s standards. What’s more, its resolution is supposed to be Full HD, being kind of a downgrade from the QHD resolution that the current Nexus has, but the price might be lower as well.
We’ve seen some cases for the LG Nexus recently and now a user created a video of how the phone might end up looking like based on the recent leaks. While the leaked images of the cases show some unusual cut-outs leading to all sorts of speculation, the author of the video has given them specific functionalities. The circular one next to the camera module has been occupied by another sensor that would provide dual camera functionality or perhaps even 3D capabilities. The rectangular cutout on the bottom of the phone is where the speaker would be, according to the creator of the video. One the back of the phone, there’s a square-ish cutout on the cases, which might be for the LED-flash or the fingerprint reader or Laser Autofocus, but the author places the flash on other place and doesn’t offer an explanation for that component. The hardware buttons are also located on different places than what the cases suggest, but the animated renders could be providing a first look of the new LG Nexus phone.
