Adventure games that capture your attention on nearly all levels are harder to come by on mobile it feels like, but once in a while it’s possible to stumble upon an absolute gem of a game, and gamers will surely feel this way about Whispering Willows with it’s gorgeous hand drawn art visual style and the immersive storytelling. This is not its first arrival on Android technically, as it was available via the OUYA prior to today, but now Whispering Willows is available for all Android devices whether it be smartphone, tablet, or NVIDIA SHIELD console and it only costs $4.99. Keep in mind though this $4.99 price tag is also a special launch sale price at half off, meaning it will jump to the normal cost of $9.99 in the bear future at some point.
Despite its adventure game moniker, there’s more to this game then just adventure. There will be a series of different puzzles for you to solve but to complete them you’ll need to use the main characters special ability of astral projection, in which she splits her spirit from her body to complete various tasks. The game almost has a slightly chilling undertone to it but in a more fun and less creepy way.
the game’s main character, Elena Elkhorn is in search of her father and begins her search as the Willows mansion where the game’s setting takes place. The mansion is of course fraught with mystery, but this is no challenge which Elena isn’t willing to undertake. Aside from solving puzzles and uncovering the secrets of the mansion, you’ll also have the capability to send wandering souls to the afterlife. For all its beauty and fun-filled adventure that it offers, Whispering Willows also supports likely just about any device, and you can play with touch controls or with a more traditional control set using an actual gamepad which might feel more at home to some. Either way, if you like adventure style games then Whispering Willows should be on your radar. Picking it up soon is also a good idea if you’re looking to save a little cash.
