Chinese smartphone maker Meizu has launched its M2 Note phablet in India on Wednesday, for a price of Rs. 9,999 ($159). The company had previously launched its M1 Note in the country for a price of Rs. 11,999 ($189). Meizu is one of the leading Chinese smartphone makers who entered India after Xiaomi received a thunderous welcome last year from the smartphone buying population in the country, selling out its entire stocks within seconds. As for the Meizu M2 Note, the device will be offered for sale exclusively online on Amazon India from August 10th, and will come in four different color options – Grey, White, Blue and Pink. The phone, at the given price, will be competing against devices like the Lenovo K3 Note, the Yu Yuphoria and the Xiaomi Mi 4i
Coming to the hardware specifications of the Meizu M2 Note, the smartphone, which is also known as the Blue Charm Note 2, features a 5.5-inch full HD 1080p IGZO capacitive touchscreen display, and is powered by the MT6753 SoC from Mediatek, which comes with an embedded octa-core CPU clocked at a maximum of 1.3 GHz, and a Mali-T720MP3 GPU. The device comes with 2 GB of RAM and a choice of either 16 GB of 32 GB of storage. The variant launched in India at Rs. 9,999 happens to be the 16 GB version according to reports. The phone runs Meizu’s proprietary Flyme OS 4.5 software, which is based on Android 5.0 Lollipop. The phone comes with a 3,100 mAh battery and has a microUSB 2.0 port for charging and data syncing.
Coming to the imaging credentials of the Meizu M2 Note, the device comes with a 13-megapixel primary camera, capable of recording 1080p videos at 30 fps. The camera comes with autofocus and dual LED, dual-tone flash, along with geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR and panorama options as part of its camera app. The secondary selfie-cam on the device comes with a 5-megapixel sensor, which is also capable of recording 1080p videos. Connectivity options on the phone include LTE Cat.4 support, which has a theoretical downlink speed of 150 Mbps and uplink speeds of 50 Mbps. The phone also supports HSPA and GSM connectivity alongside dual band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n. The phone comes with sensors which include the accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity and compass, and supports GPS, A-GPS and GLONASS.
