Meizu has announced a number of compelling smartphones this year. The last three phones this Chinese smartphone OEM has showcased are the Meizu M2 Note, M2 and MX5. The first two devices are mid-range offerings by Meizu, and the third one is company’s flagship for this year. All of these devices are really affordable, and really solid offerings by the company. That being said, the Meizu MX5 Pro handset has been rumored for a long time, and then Meizu’s executive hinted that the device might not launch at all. Read on.
The company’s VP, Li Nan, has hinted last month that Meizu is developing a premium new line of handsets, and that the company might eventually ditch the MX Pro brand. He didn’t specifically say that the MX5 Pro won’t be announced, but a number of reports said that might be the case. We haven’t exactly seen any MX5 Pro leaks since then, and Meizu’s premium offering is due to arrive in Q1 2016 probably. That being said, another Meizu-branded device leaked in China today, the MX5 Pro Plus. This is a naming which we haven’t encountered thus far, but a couple of images leaked, and according to the source, this is the MX5 Pro Plus. You can check out the images down below if you’d like, as you can see, this handset sure does look like a Meizu-branded smartphone. The physical home button is clearly visible here, and both the power 7 lock and volume rocker button are located on the right.
The source also claims that the device might cost around 2,500 Yuan ($391), and according to the available info, this thing will sport really high-end specs. The device is rumored to feature a 6-inch display, 4GB of RAM and a 27-megapixel camera. Samsung’s Exynos 7420 64-bit 14nm octa-core processor is also listed by the source, and judging by what we can see here, a metal build is also to be expected.
