New Motorola Droid Maxx 2 Images Surface Along With Specs

Motorola has announced three new devices last month, the 3rd-gen Moto G, Moto X Play and Moto X Style. The first two devices are mid-range offerings by the company, and the latter one is kind of Moto X’s (2014) sucessor, and the company’s new flagship. That being said, Motorola has let us all know during their press conference that the Moto X Play won’t be launching in the US. That’s all Motorola said during the conference, but it was somewhat easy to guess that Verizon might release that handset under a different name, and make it a part of their ‘Droid’ line of Motorola smartphones.

Well, we’ve already seen a couple of Droid Maxx 2 (XT1565) leaks recently, first was a rumor that Moto X Play will arrive in the US as Droid Maxx 2, and the one that arrived yesterday actually showcased the device’s back covers and the back side of the device itself. Well, it’s a new day, and time for a new batch of leaked images. Our friends at Android Police managed to get their hands on a new set of Droid Maxx 2 images. If you take a look at the gallery below this article, you’ll notice the best images of this smartphone we’ve seen thus far. You’ll get a good look at both sides of this device, along with CPU-Z screenshots which reveal the device’s specs. Interesting enough, the CPU-Z says that the device sports 8.14GB of internal storage, which seems quite odd considering Moto X Play ships with either 16 or 32GB of on board storage. It remains to be seen how accurate are these screenshots, but we really doubt Motorola would go below 16GB, and it’s also hard to believe only 8GB of storage is user accessible. As far as other specs go, they will remain unchanged, so you’ll still get the 5.5-inch 1080p display, 2GB of RAM, Snapdragon 615 SoC, 21-megapixel camera, etc.

There you have it, the Droid Maxx 2 seems to be on its way to Verizon, and it will probably launch before the holidays. We expect to see some additional leaks in the coming days / weeks, so stay tuned for that. As far as pricing goes, you can expect this thing to cost around $400, though we’re only guessing here, so keep that in mind.
