New Video Shows LG Nexus 5 (2015) Based On Recent Leaks

Google have teased some details about Android 6.0 Marshmallow in the last few days. when Google is preparing to release a new version of Android, it is also preparing a new Nexus device or devices. In previous years, this has been either a tablet or a smartphone, or sometimes both. For 2015, we have seen rumors of both new smartphones (yes, two) and a tablet in the making too. We won’t know for certain what, exactly, Google is preparing but on the smartphone side of things, there are strong rumors that we will be seeing two Nexus smartphones. One is a new Nexus 6, to be made by Huawei with a screen somewhere close to 6-inch (5.7-inch has been touted). The other is a new Nexus 5, with a correspondingly smaller screen close to 5-inch, and this one could be being built by LG.

Many of our readers will remember that LG made the first generation Nexus 5; it will be interesting to see what they have done with the second generation device. We have already seen a number of leaks and rumors over the specification of the device, including a fingerprint scanner, which can be seen on the back of the device a little south of the camera. Writing of the camera, the lens assembly does appear to protrude from the body of the device, but the device itself also appears to be much thinner than the first generation Nexus 5. And whilst the video can only take a guess as to the materials used to make the device, we have seen several rumors that the new Nexus smartphones will be built from metal, following the current trend to produce premium smartphones.

Other information about the LG-built Nexus 5 2015 Edition include what appears to be dual front facing speakers, a bottom-mounted Type-C USB 3.0 port, which can be used either way around. The screen has a relatively small bezel around the side edges but normal, conventional side-mounted lock and volume buttons. We don’t know any concrete information about what’s under the skin of the 2015 version of the Nexus 5, such as the System-on-Chip type, RAM, storage, camera or battery capacity. The video speculates that the Nexus 5 will be available in black and white colors but we do not know this for certain – Google made the original Nexus 5 available in these two colors, but later on added a splash of red. But we do know that it will be running Android 6.0 Marshmallow when it does arrive. It’s going to be a long few weeks until it arrives, but for the time being, check the video out!
