Opera, one of the more popular mobile web browsers around, have just updated their beta browser to version 32. Now as you’d expect with this being Opera Beta, it is a work in progress, and there will be bugs. So if you’re interested in these new features, please remember to expect bugs and occasional crashes. As they are part of the beta process.
Some of the new features include Pull to Refresh. Something that has been on Google Chrome for a little bit now. And it’s basically exactly what you think it is. Pull the web page down and let go to refresh the page. Pretty self-explanatory there. Some of the other new features include a pulsing animation for the progress bar, which looks pretty cool. There’s also higher resolution images in Discover now. Making for a better experience when using Discover. Opera has also added Synced Typed history. And finally, you can add shortcuts to the home screen.
While Opera is having a bit of a tough time right now, in fact they are up for sale. This is all after they have lowered their quarterly financial expectations. While still gaining users, they are beginning to lose money and not bring in as much revenue. Hopefully the company can find a way to fix that real soon, as they do make a great product. Opera is still doing business as usual. Putting out great new updates for their apps and browsers. Opera is a great browser and is only getting better. Many people prefer Opera over Chrome because Opera is lighter on the battery and just lighter weight altogether.
The update is available on the Play Store right now. If you already have Opera Beta installed on your phone, it may be waiting for you. But it could also be a staged roll out as many other apps are these days. Which is primarily to cut down on the bandwidth spikes that the Play Store is getting. Opera Beta and its other browser apps are all completely free, without any type of In-App Purchase.
