Samsung Devices Which Will Get Android 6.0 Early 2016 Listed

This week it became clear as to what the next version of the Android operating system will be. It’s called Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) and while it has not changed too much in terms of the way it looks, most of the changes will be certainly welcomed. Google also released the third developer preview this week, which is right on schedule, as the final release is expected by the end of the third quarter of the year. Once the final release is out, companies will begin tweaking some aspects of the software to create their own versions that they can start pushing out to their devices.

Samsung was one of the first companies to start updating their devices to Android 5.0 (Lollipop) this year, and the story seems to be repeating itself as it has now been reported that the company will start updating some devices early next year. Some Samsung devices are yet to be updated to Android 5.1.1, and an update is being prepared to contain some of the changes that were introduced with the two phones that the company recently announced. Still, Samsung has already announced some of the biggest improvements contained in Android 6.0 will be included in their version, like the new app permission system, the new RAM management monitor, more functionality for the fingerprint scanner, auto backup and the new Doze mode to save more battery.

The list of the devices that will get this update first, unsurprisingly, includes some of the most recent devices such as the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+, the Galaxy S6, S6 Duos and the Galaxy S6 Edge will also be among the first ones to get it. As for last year’s models, the list includes the Galaxy Note 4, Note 4 Duos, Note Edge and the Galaxy Alpha. The only tablet in the list is the Galaxy Tab A, which was announced earlier this year. This doesn’t mean that these devices will be the only ones to get the update as there are some high-end devices that didn’t make the list, such as the more recent Galaxy Tab S2 tablets or the Galaxy A8, but for now, it seems like these will be the ones at the top of the list.
