Samsung is expected to announce some products at IFA this year in Berlin. One of those which is pretty much confirmed to be announced is their new circular smartwatch called Samsung Gear S2 and now, some details are emerging about wireless speakers which are also expected to be officially announced at the event. The company wants to position itself a world leader in home audio with their new products that are designed for every price range. Based on the success brought by the R7 and R6 Wireless Audio 360 speakers and their crisp and clear sound that fills the room, Samsung has unveiled the new R5, R3 and R1 models, all of them with similar designs in different sizes. The new models are omni-directional speakers with a tap-and-swipe interface so users can adjust the volume, play, pause or select the source right from the top of the speakers.
The three models feature simple and premium designs that look good in every environment of the house, while also offering high-quality, balanced sound thanks to the ring-radiator technology. The improved Multiroom App for Android or iOS lets users control the music that is played on each speaker that is connected on a Wi-Fi network and it will also let users find and select music as well as create playlists. To make it even more compatible, the app works on the current Gear S smartwatch and the company has said that it will work with the Gear S2 in an intuitive interface that is based on swipes which works even without a phone. Users will be able to control music playback, as well as the volume and playlists which can all be seen right from the smartwatch. Plus all of the connected speakers can be accessed and controlled from the screen too.
Samsung partnered with the high-fidelity music service Qobuz, so it is available with their devices showing commitment to providing the best audio experience. The R1, R3 and R5 speakers will be available in Europe and the U.S. in the last quarter of the year with prices ranging from $199 to $399. It is likely, more details will become known about these speakers next week and availability in additional regions will be communicated in the coming months.
