As you all know, Samsung has announced two new phablets quite recently, the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+. The Galaxy Note 5 is the newest phablet in the company’s ‘Note’ series, and the S6 Edge+ is essentially a phablet variant of the company’s S6 Edge smartphone. That being said, Samsung and various carriers have already released availability info for the device, and pre-orders have been opened by various sources. Speaking of availability, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ might launch in India soon, read on.
Samsung India has announced a press event in New Delhi on Wednesday, and has teased the arrival of the Galaxy S6 Edge+ in the process. Samsung’s press invitation contains the ‘Experience the new Edge in innovation’ caption, which clearly points to the Galaxy S6 Edge+ launch. The Galaxy Note 5 probably won’t launch at the event though, so keep that in mind. We’ll report back as soon as the company announces the device, so stay tuned for that, the event is taking place tomorrow.
The Galaxy S6 Edge+ features a 5.7-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED display, 4GB of RAM and 16 or 64GB of internal storage (depending on the version you purchase). Samsung’s Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core SoC fuels this phablet, and a 3,000mAh non-removable battery is also a part of this package. The 16-megapixel OIS camera is located on the back of the device, and a 5-megapixel shooter can be found up front. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed on this device, and on top of it you’ll find Samsung’s TouchWiz UI. The Galaxy S6 Edge+ also sport a fingerprint scanner which doubles as a home button, and as its name says, the sides on its display are curved. The device measures 154.4 x 75.8 x 6.9mm, while it weighs 153 grams.
We still don’t know how much will this phablet cost in India, but it is priced at $814.99 and $914.99 in the US (32 and 64GB variants), which is approximately Rs. 53,300 and Rs. 59.800. Either way you spin it, you can expect this handset to sport a premium price, though that was to be expected. Either way, stay tuned, we’ll report back soon.
