Samsung is doing a lot to promote their new phones, their most recent move is targeted to iPhone users as they hope they will switch to one of their devices. It’s called the “Ultimate Test Drive” and it basically lends those iPhone users a Galaxy S6 Edge or one of their most recent offerings like the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+ for a 30-day period. The test drive kit includes the phone of your choice, an activated SIM card and a guide to get you started. It is reported that it also includes a cable to move the files from the iPhone to the Samsung device. The SIM card includes a data plan, although the included amount of data is not specified and it can be used with the carrier of your choice as well.
For those interested, they need to access the promotion’s website directly from their iPhone, no other device will work. Then, they’ll get to choose a carrier from a list and the Samsung smartphone they would like to try. After they’ve done that, they will enter their contact information including their name and address. Finally, they will have to input their credit card information, where they will be charged $1 to verify their data and start the test by receiving their kit shortly afterwards.
The terms and conditions are a little confusing, as they mention that the regular Galaxy S6 is eligible, but it’s not a current option and there is no mention of the Note 5 or the S6 Edge+ in there. What is mentioned is that the users should treat the device carefully as if they return it within the trial period with a cracked screen, scratched (although reasonable wear and tear is acceptable) or with its components damaged, they will get charged $100. If the device is not returned during that time frame or it doesn’t turn on, they will be charged the full price of the device, $720 for the Galaxy S6 and $820 for the Galaxy S6 Edge. This isn’t the first time that test drives have been made and the results have not been that good, but Samsung seem confident that the hardware design and software experience of their new devices will entice iPhone users who would like to know more first-hand.
