We’ve been seeing a lot of mobile payment services launched lately. Samsung Pay, Google Pay and Apple Pay are quite probably the strongest competitors here, and it remains to be seen which payment solution will be most used in the future. That being said, we’ve recently reported that over 80,000 credit cards have been registered for Samsung Pay in just 6 days. Keep in mind that we’re talking only about South Korea here, considering that Samsung Pay has very limited availability at the moment, and it was just a matter of time before we hear news regarding extended availability of the service, read on.
Samsung has started rolling out the beta program for Samsung Pay in the US. The company has released this news on their official website, along with some additional info about the service. IN order to sign up for the beta program you’ll need to have a compatible device, of course. The following devices are supported: Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. So, you’ll basically need to own one of the Samsung-branded flagships released this year along with an active Samsung account, and an appropriate credit card. By ‘appropriate’, we mean a credit card issued by: Bank of America, Visa, MasterCard or U.S. Bank Visa.
Another thing you should definitely keep in mind here, is the fact that Verizon Wireless doesn’t support Samsung Pay, at least not for now, while AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and US Cellular all support the service already. That’s it, Samsung Pay Beta program is officially on its way in the US, and it will be very interesting to see how many people are actually interested in using it.
