As IFA draws closer, the news of what to expect will continually roll in at a steady pace. One area which is likely to see big traction is that of smartwatches. They are the en vogue product of the money and all main manufacturers seem interested in securing their part of the smartwatch pie. None more so than Samsung. It was highly expected that the South Korean company would unveil their latest smartwatch at the event and this was further confirmed when the company released a video pretty much confirming that they were planning on unveiling their newest smartwatch, the Samsung Gear S2. Well, if you did need any further confirmation, then it looks like Samsung is once again testing the launch of the Gear S2 today, through their Samsung tomorrow blog site. The blog posting does clearly once more confirm that the Gear S2 will be unveiled on September 3rd in Berlin, but also makes a note of some of the already semi-confirmed features.
Of course, the recent video and images do confirm that this is going to be a round smartwatch, stepping away from the more traditional Samsung non-circular displays. This point is made note of in the blog with Samsung firstly noting that they have “transformed” the mobile device world with their curves on the likes of the Galaxy S6 Edge and then going on to state “But with the debut of the Samsung Gear S2 fast approaching, “curved” is going all-out “circular.”
The post then goes on to further comment on the largely reported on rotable bezel which is said to offer some form of functionality. The post does not provide any details on the functionality but does highlight that the interface will be “very different”, adding “The Samsung Gear S2 boasts a very different interface that’s “ready to turn.” Closing out the blog post, Samsung notes that the Gear S2 is not different in all respects to previous Samsung wearables, as it does adopt the same “dedication to design and style that has made the entire Gear lineup so popular all over the world.” Those interested can read the full blog post by hitting the source link below. In other Gear S2 news, it was reported earlier that the smartwatch is likely to follow in the Gear S tradition by including standalone cellular connectivity.
