As you all know by now, Samsung has unveiled two new phablets about a week ago, the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+. Both of these devices are the company’s premium offerings, and will be launched in a number of countries soon, especially the Galaxy S6 Edge+. India is certainly one of those countries, it was reported yesterday that Samsung intends to launch this phablet today, and that is exactly what happened. This Korea-based tech giant has unveiled their newest phablet with a curved display in India, read on.
Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S6 Edge+ in India today, and share its availability details with the public. During the announcement, Samsung has said that the device will go on sale on August 28th, while the pre-orders will kick off starting today. The device is priced at Rs. 57,900 ($888), and we’re talking about the 32GB variant of the device, as the 64GB model hasn’t been made available by the company in India, at least not for now. As you can see, Samsung has decided to attach a premium price to their newest phablet, but that was to be expected considering this is the most probable Samsung handset to date (next to the Note 5, of course). Speaking of the Note 5, Samsung hasn’t announced it today, nor did it reveal any details regarding its availability in India, but we’ll report back if something pops up.
The Galaxy S6 Edge+ sports a 5.7-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED display, along with 4GB of DDR4 RAM and in India’s case 32GB of non-expandable internal storage (the 64GB model is also available globally). Samsung’s Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core SoC fuels this phablet along with a Mali-T760 MP8 GPU for graphics. The 3,000mAh battery is also a part of this package, and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top of it. The 16-megapixel OIS camera is available on the back of the device, and the 5-megapixel snapper can be found up front. The Galaxy S6 Edge+ measures 154.4 x 75.8 x 6.9mm, and weighs 153 grams. There you have it, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ is now official in India as well.
